East overtakes West

The East has overtaken the West not only in trendiness, but more importantly in rental prices. Rent in Hackney is currently £2,125 pcm, catching up with traditional hotspots like Wandsworth and Richmond upon Thames which stand at £2,195 and £2,105 respectively.

East London has undergone a cultural revival which has provided the perfect conditions for buy-to-let landlords – funky eateries, modern art galleries and trendy vintage shops fill the area, attracting more and more young professionals who want to escape the more family oriented/less edgy parts of London.

Rents in East London will continue to rise, and as the future generation of renters will look to move into the more fashionable and dynamic parts of East London, the West will become reserved for families who are more interested in bigger houses and open spaces.
