Halifax saw 56% of people surveyed agreeing that 2014 would be a good year to sell up so the Rentify survey in fact suggests landlords are broadly not in agreement with the public at large. In fact the majority think it’s a bad year to sell. This may be due to landlords seeing their property as a much longer-term investment. If house prices continue to rise, as they are broadly likely to do, landlords may be looking well beyond this year for significantly larger capital growth. And although yields may be stagnating somewhat, the strength of returns overall may deter landlords from selling up too soon, especially as demand continues to outstrip supply.
